I am Kay Williams. I am a Visioner, I am a Steward of Black Love and Care, I am the MadQuestionAsking Chief Exploration officer of The Discovery Initiative and I welcome you.
I am a fervent follower of the “trying a ting” method and I am passionate about process and relationship building.
Life making is my creative practice. I am guided by the question "What wants to emerge when I center joy, pleasure, rest and ease while living alongside deep grief?" “ What is possible when the only thing that is impossible is impossibility itself?”
I've been described as a Lebenskünstler, which directly translated means life artist. Someone who moves through life guided by creativity and playfulness living life according to their own ideas and timelines. A Lebenskünstler, I’m told, will rise creatively out of circumstances that would have shattered others. They transform dire spaces into thriving magical gardens and then they live in them. What makes a Lebenskünstler is the skill to dance with life. I am a practitioner of freedom, I am an aligner and a refiner . I am abundant in my wild uncontainableness.
My invitation to you.
The vastness of human complexity and the systems born of these complexities can make it feel impossible to identify lightness as a feature of darkness; to know where or how to begin with the task of dreaming up a new world, a new way of being. When, in truth, darkness – Blackness – is the space that holds everything together, the space that holds the light we seek. Visioning the new world and new ways of being begins with stepping into our (divine) responsibility to ourselves and one another…(to shine brightly in our complexities?)
As The Discovery Initiative, I guide individuals who have the institutional power to create organisational change. I also guide individuals who want to shift their own personal landscapes of possibility. As The Discovery Initiative, I support you to assess, organise, refine and align the details of your vision through penetrative questioning and offering incisive observations so that you can create a sound(synonym) foundation for the kinds of systems needed to create/support/nourish the most aligned expression of your stated vision.
As The Discovery Initiative, I offer a framework(or, value prism) for healing and liberation through an Ethic of Black Love & Care. The Black Love and Care Ethic is a lesson in embodied meaningful realignment; An invitation to step into your own integrity and brilliance.

The Black Love and Care Ethic is an offering to be invited back home individually and collectively to our most freedom seeking selves; Our most loving, tender, accountable selves.The Black Love and Care Ethic holds that relationships are central to our collective liberation, being equally invested in the process of our becoming as we are in the outcome of what we desire to become is necessary, taking responsibility for grounded action to create visionary possibilities is vital, tending to the work of knowing and healing that which thwarts our thriving allows for our giving to come from a place of abundance and lastly, that Blackness as a whole and complete technology unto itself gives birth to new innovations at all levels all of the time. The Black Love and Care Ethic is the intention and willingness to act from a place that centers the vastness of what is possible when the needs, dreams and abundance of Blackness are tended to and affirmed.
